Types of Activated Carbon

Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)

Granular Activated Carbon features a relatively large particle size, which results in a reduced external surface area compared to powdered variants. This characteristic makes diffusion of the adsorbate a critical performance factor. Accordingly, GAC is the preferred choice for gas and vapour-phase adsorption applications, where faster diffusion rates are essential. It is widely employed in gold recovery and water treatment processes

Powdered Activated Carbon (PAC)

Powdered Activated Carbon is a finely milled, highly porous adsorbent engineered for rapid and effective treatment of liquid-phase applications. Dosed directly into process liquids, PAC efficiently removes colour, odour, organic contaminants, and trace impurities. Its combination of high surface area and fast adsorption kinetics makes it a versatile solution for water treatment, food processing, and chemical purification applications.

Extruded Activated Carbon (Pellets)

Extruded Activated Carbon is produced from coconut shell via high-temperature steam activation and formed into uniform pellets using carefully selected binders, under stringent quality control protocols. Its exceptional adsorption capacity makes it highly effective for the removal of contaminants from air and gas streams, solvent recovery, and evaporative emission control.

For vapour-phase applications, extruded carbon is particularly suited to the remediation of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), soil vapour extraction, and the removal of other airborne organics including ammonia, sulphur compounds, mercury, and amines
